Gui Fei Empress Oolong
Gui Fei Empress Oolong from Jenai, Nantou high mountain region, central Taiwan. A medium oxidized oolong with a unique flavor profile. The tea is made from a smaller leaf with a few buds. When the tea plant is exposed to stressful conditions, such as low light, cold, salty sea wind, the plant tends to develop more complex aromas, unique flavor profiles and an increase in chlorophyll, which results in a deeper green leaf. This tea has been bitten by small grasshoppers, causing the leaves to oxidize while still on the plant. Brewed at a higher temperature (90-95ºC) and in an oriental style, the flavor will be more fruity and intense, at a lower temperature more floral. A layered fresh resinous intense syrupy flavor of dried fruit, peach, apricots combined with sweet honey.
