Black tea from Tanzania from the Kazi Yetu cooperative.
In 2023, the Sakare Specialty Tea factory was established, the first cooperative tea processing factory in Tanzania. Before the factory, farmers earned $0.15/kg by selling raw green leaves and could not process the tea. Now they earn $0.20/kg for green leaves and earn at least 500% more in revenue by selling processed orthodox tea to Kazi Yetu. The tea is packaged in a women-run factory in Dar es Salaam. They focus on local value addition, so that more of the profit from your cup of tea stays in the country of origin.
