Sichuan Green orchid, Lan Hua Gan Lu, a top green tea (Limited Edition) from Sichuan, expertly scented with wild orchid from the mountains (unprotected). A very aromatic tea, with a green, earthy undertone, almost intoxicating, we feel that the scent even sticks to your face like a perfume. Some teas can get a natural orchid aroma when processing the tea, this has a chemical cause. This tea is naturally scented between the flowers, a perfect introduction to the orchid as far as we are concerned, especially with this top quality green tea as a base. "The tea smells of wild mountain orchids, like the emperor's favorite concubine" , the translation of the tea master.
Tasting notes Mariëlla Erjebs:
Dry leaf smells slightly medicinal, iodine, camphor.
The wet leaf smells floral and vegetal.
Taste: smooth, full, round, both rich and bright, ends a bit dry, but not astringent, very sweet, umami, saline, slightly bitter in a fruity way.
First notes: roasted shell of prawns, iodine, oyster shell, then very floral. I suppose it’s the smell of wild mountain orchid, but I never smelled those, so to me it’s very floral, sweet.
Then slightly medicinal notes, camphor, menthol jumps in, with a very bright and peppery edge, followed by fruity undertones, carambole, muscatel grape, mixed with menthol.
Very long, fruity and menthol-fresh finish.
